My first meal & first spot to mark
The bus arrived at Southern Cross Train Station (formerly known as Spencer St Station). Using the map I grabbed from the airport, I managed to find my way to the hostel which I have booked online. And I was met with the relax attitude the receptionist gave me while she checked me in. Hahaha! I told myself, I'm here for holiday, so relax. After about 30minutes, my room was cleaned up and the key was handed over to me. Hmmm...Room number 9. But when I went into the room, my first thoughts were "I want to go home." As I sat there on my bed, lamenting about my situation, I recalled that there are actually people back home who wants me to return home a changed person. So I told myself, maybe it’s the hunger and the tiredness, plus the yet to plan itineries, that's why the panic button.
So I picked myself up from the bed, freshened up in the bathroom (though I swear I will not bath today, given the state of the first bathroom I went to), and went out to explore the city. After all, I did say that it feels like going home.
So I wander around the whole city, this time tackling the maps while searching for road signs on my own. I would say I was a total failure at reading maps. But it could have been better, as there were times when I went around in circles.
My first destination was a Visitors’ Information Centre nearby, and the nearest one is at Swanston St. But first, food! I charged at the nearest MacDonald's. But before you start ranting at me saying, eat something else lah! There is another reason for me to visit Mac. I need to MARK SPOT!! And I have totally no confident in the shared toilets at Melbourne Connections. Well, at least not yet.
