Caravan Park
Before we reached Apollo Bay, where we will have our lunch, we made a short toilet stop at a caravan park. Adam said there were plenty of wild koalas around the park and we could probably spot a few on the trees. As he explained, “koala” in aboriginal language means “no drink” and among the 500 over speices of eucalytpus trees, koalas only feed on five of them! Talk about choosy eaters!!
Koalas’ brain is about the size of a walnut, which is still shrinking further due to their lack of activities. During hot weather, koalas literally lie flat of the trees with their limbs hanging, and they hug the trees branches during the cold.
The Koalas were very easy to spot. Though we didn’t get to see the family of koalas who recently had a new member, there was one that was resting on a tree, and our van was parked right next to the tree. So cute!
