Arcades and Lanes

Another reason for the change of plans to Brighton Beach was the weather. According to Mr. Weatherman, there will be showers throughout the whole day. So I stayed in the city and did one of the Melbourne Walks - Arcades and Lanes.

The start of the walk took me to Degraves Lane, a mecca for Melbourne's Cafe society. At the end of it, I came to Flinders Lane then Centre Place - another breeding ground for cafes.

I ended up stuck in Swanton Street as the rain grew heavier. The first place that I came to was Block Arcade with the mosaic floor. Then I roamed to Block Arcade and ended up at Royal Arcade, the oldest shopping arcade in Australia, where the two legendary giants of the ancient Britons stood - Gog and Mogog. They have been striking the hour since 1892.
